Why You Need To Find Your Niche On The Net

Being one among a thousand will make no difference to you. How would you feel if you were an exclusive one amongst a thousand? It would feel good, right? The same applies to business. If you enter an already explored, safe business, you will be amongst the many that already exist. If you are smart, you will find yourself a unique niche that will guarantee you a regular bunch of customers and you can even claim monopoly until someone else swoops in to give you competition.

The key to success is to identify a niche market. It is not so difficult these days with the advent of internet. There sure is some sect of the market that desperately requires a particular product/service. You have to identify that and provide the same. If you can do this, success is all yours.

Firstly, draw up a list of your interests, at least 10 of them.
Look through your bookshelves to see what reference books you’ve purchased in the past.
Do a search on your computer to see what information you’ve looked for and saved on your system.
When you meet people, listen to what they are speaking especially when it comes to hobbies and interests.
Read through classifieds of magazines and highlight the ones you want to call and find out more about. Talk to them and see how soon you get information, how are they selling, how good are the quality of their products, how often is their ad getting repeated in the issues. Watch that market like a hawk and learn.
You have found your interest. Look for discussion forums relating to your market. Do a search on the same.
When you are amidst a bunch of strangers in a queue or something, listen to what is being spoken. Observe intently different kinds of people in different strata of society and what they say. You will procure some information about what their needs or their wishes. It could be something as silly as a person exclaiming “I wish I could find an agent who would take care of all my relocating related issues”. Now this could mean, closing connections in the previous place, informing people, moving into the new place, getting everything arranged etc. such that you don’t have to run from pillar to post to get things done. Now this is something you can gather from just one random statement exclaimed by someone. Probe in further into the same to study the scope of such a service if provided. Do a feasibility study, decide who your target audience are, start making networks and soon you will launch your business.

You have to keep your eyes, ears and mind open to opportunities. Research, find that soft spot and then launch your business. The lesser competition, the better. It is definitely more challenging but equally rewarding. Hard work combined with brain work surely pays. Don’t you think you should test it?

Do not “P” on your website

Building a website, what a novel idea.

* Receive Internet website traffic 24 by 7 even while you sleep or go on vacation.
* Find qualified clients contacting you instead of looking for a needle in a haystack.
* Cut overhead expenses like buildings and employees while expanding Internationally.

Before you start, may I give you a piece of advice? Here it is. Don’t “P” on your website!

What, you say?

Let me tell you the 3 “P’s” to avoid when creating your web page.

#1P to avoid: Avoid creating a Brochure “P”age. While “real world” marketing efforts would likely include a brochure; limiting your website to this option will result in little to know traffic. Why? Simply because the World Wide Web is built around the idea that “content is king”. Therefore you need far more quality information about the niche you are targeting than a simple brochure.

#2P to avoid: Dismiss the idea of a Splash “P”age. While a brochure does indeed have some content a splash page certainly does not. It’s focus is on a beautiful front end with content (if any) somewhere deeper than the main page. Nothing can get in the way of your Internet Marketing success more than avoiding all content on the home page. Thus staying away from glitz and glamour in favor of tailored content for your given niche is always highly recommended.

#3P to avoid: Cancel thoughts leading to a Doorway “P”age. These are also known as Cloaking “P”ages. Both are detrimental to your success on the Internet because search engines penalize you for such creations when they are discovered. These pages serve no real other purpose than directing people to your “real” website. There may be times this is needed, but when you create multiple doorway or cloaking pages leading to the same website you are setting yourself on course for punishment from the search engines.

An important point is that anyone can link to you, even people that have created one of the pages listed above. Search engines realize this and do not penalize you for their errors. However, when you choose to link to such pages you are penalized. Thus, not only should you stay away from creating the above types of websites; but also staying far away from having anything at all to do with these websites is in your extreme best interest.

Now you know how to be successful in Internet Marketing while not “P”ing on your website. May you have much success in your own personal website ventures.

Keywords are the key to success in a home-based Internet Marketing venture

Creating a successful Internet home business is one of the hardest tasks in the world. It requires a lot of hard work and mindful strategic planning.

Most of us are under the impression that simply because we have a computer at home we could easily construct and build a successful home business. Ask those who are already doing it and you would know how difficult it is. Business is business whether you do it from home or outside home. Internet home business has its advantages and disadvantages. Since you have to do all your work from some remote corner and your customers are not familiar with you, you need to take some extra effort on your part to convince them to sell your product or service.

Your job gets easier if you gain some knowledge about a few online tools to use along with some effective marketing techniques. You need to familiarize yourself with these Internet’s unique tools and techniques to start your web business. An in-depth knowledge of this information would greatly increase your chances of creating and running a successful Internet business.

Importance of a good domain name -

Domain name for your website is an important feature – marketers either choose catchy words or phrases for their domain such as Yahoo.com, Google. COM, Digg.com, etc. Or they would tie their business product or service in the domain such as travels.com, Hotels.com, etc. Your domain should be associated with a well designed and easy to navigate website. Your website should be equipped with important commercial tools such as an order page, shopping cart and online payment system. You should accept all major cards and display trust-building icons such as 'Better Business Bureau' for customers to pay online.

Majority of online marketers suggest that graphics should be kept to a minimum by using it to highlight your main product or benefit in a headline at the top of your webpage so that it is visible to your customers. It is best to be precise and direct to impress your customers in those first few seconds when they land in your page.

Keywords are the key -

Surfers type a few main words, which are referred to as keywords into the search engines to find their information or a product. These are the key to success of any online business. You must develop a good knowledge of how to choose and check for the most appropriate keywords your customers would use to find your product or service and target these keywords with your online site.

It would be to your best advantage if you learn to do keyword research and other testing methods to find the right high converting keywords that guarantee sales and profits.

3 Top Tips Not To Forget In SEO

The other day my wife and I were visiting some friends. You know the type, able to complete critical heart surgery with their hands tied behind their back while wearing a blindfold. They asked what we did for a living and we responded with SEO. Clueless, they continued asking about SEO till we told them it was the acronym for Search Engine Optimization.

With that added nugget of truth exposed they gleefully responded by telling us they knew everything about that subject. We quickly changed to talking about the weather so as not to cause further embarrassment for the people we were visiting.

It’s safe to say that some people know more about SEO than others, but it’s probably the case that not even Google has a complete understand of what Search Engine Optimization means in it’s entirety. Perhaps people having varying levels of comprehension and such on the topic, but when someone blatantly states they know all about this subject you can pretty much guarantee that they know next to nothing should the truth be exposed.

In this article we will look at 3 key elements of Search Engine Optimization and a brief explanation of how to capitalize on each.

The first key is to optimize on content especially on your home page (aka index page). Pictures are nice, and perhaps even necessary to express a given point, but if you elect to throw the majority of text content away in favor of pictures you are making a grave mistake.

Wait, you say, I can use the “alt” tag in a picture to add content. And you are correct. However, ending your website optimization at this point (especially on your home or index page) will lead to nothing but disaster. I’m not saying to avoid pictures necessarily, but I certainly am telling you not to neglect properly formatted text for your given niche.

Ahhhh, you say, I get it. If my topic is about basketballs then I need to use the words “basketball” in my text about 100 times. Before I can get a word in edge wise you come up with the brilliant idea of creating a whole page with the word “basketball” being the same color as the background of the website you want to develop.

I only have a one-word response to your bright ideas…. BANNED

Yes, that is exactly what you can expect from the above idea. Just when you thought you were going to trick the search engines into submission you find instead that your website is not listed at all. Gone are the days of “black hat” tricks like the ones mentioned above. Fact is, I would stay away from “black hat” tactics all together else sooner or later you find your bright ideas lead no where fast. Thus topically related properly structured text that is not stuffed with keyword or invisible text is really the best idea for your Internet Marketing future success.

Now your thinking, I need to use text however I don’t want to use the wrong text. But what happens if someone steals the text I’ve used? Wait! I’ve got it, you say. I’ll turn my text into a picture forcing the thief to type my words before they can steal them.

While this might cut down theft issues the unfortunate problem is that it also eliminates Google from giving you a fair review on your website. Why? Because Google cannot read text that has been altered into an image. So your best bet is to allow dishonest people to be dishonest with the realization that this small segment of your population is not worth paying attention to. They likely won’t be the one’s with enough initiative to create their own projects anyway, so they probably aren’t even remote competition.

How To Manage A Successful List

Contacts – the single biggest asset which can prove wonders if utilized effectively. An email list is definitely every web master’s asset. Nothing like having a ready list of contacts who are your potential customers; the ones that will bring in money into your business by purchasing your product or service. Big sales, more traffic, link popularity etc. are some of the benefits that email lists will do to you.

Growing your email list is what is called list building. It requires constant effort over a period of time to build this list of a good number and quality potential people.

Before anything, what is the purpose of you building an email list? What do you seek to gain? Are you building a list to gain more traffic, market your product, share ideas? Your goal plays a role in determining your strategy for list building so that you can align the two.

Now that you have your objectives clear, we can move onto the next step – that is, formulating strategies. But keep one thing in mind, whatever you decide to do for your list building quest, NEVER spam. It is highly unethical and unprofessional.

Here’s another thing you must remember – you cannot just go about inviting people to be a part of your list unless you have something very significant to offer. You must make members’ enrolment worthwhile. Share your subject matter expertise with your list members; be available to your members to revert to you with questions. Establish something noteworthy that you can offer to your members.

Grab every opportunity to interact with people, especially those that are in your field. This will give you a chance to invite these people to your list. So this way, you won’t have merely a bunch of contacts but you will have people who are genuinely interested in what you do or your product. They should be people who are your potential customers or site visitors. Else, there is no point having uninterested, irrelevant contacts in your list. Quality is just as important as quantity.

If you already have a website, then you can have a separate section encouraging visitors to be a part of your website. Make this invitation as attractive as possible and members should know what to expect after signing up.

Remember, just gathering contacts, is not the end of the process. Retaining email is very important. You have to offer something to them continually. You have to remind them that you exist. Provide fresh content and make room for an interest instillation in the minds of your members, always. Refresh this by giving them offers from time to time, sending valuable information, which will interest your members etc.

List building is a wonderful tool to increase traffic, get extremely good sales and high growth provided you use them judiciously. Make the opportunity or break it, the choice lies in your hands!

How Title & Description Tags Supercharge Search Engine Optimization

You’ve heard of them. Those that put a couple of words on a page followed by a couple of links and sit back waiting for the money to come rolling in. Month’s later you inquire as to how their Internet business is going and receive anything from blank stares to who knows what. The collective conclusion is that making money on the Internet simply does not work.

Despite the objections you have seen you now decide to cast your own lot to Internet Marketing dreams. However, you proceed with your eyes wide open by researching the field before jumping in with both feet.

Instead of picking just any title you choose one that is keyword focused.

No “Larry’s Widget Palace” and “Widget Palace Shop” are not going to work for you. Instead you decide on an exact niche to focus on, search for leading keywords in that given niche, and formulate both your main title page and domain around the best of the best long-tail keywords available.

You realize that people just don’t care a whole lot about what your name is or even the name of your company. Their focus is on them and when you make this your focus too you become a valuable resource rather than just another Internet Marketer. This starts you on the fast track to success with Internet marketing, but your research has taught you that this is just the beginning.

In horror you remember back to your friends attempt at Internet Marketing. When you looked at his website there were a vast number of pages that stated nothing at all in the blue title bar at the top. Even worse, when you reviewed their code no information was entered in the meta keywords or description codes. Fact is, he had left the meta tags clear out of the website.

While you realize that meta tags aren’t recognized by the search engines like they used to be you know this information is still good to include on your website. And so you do exactly that. In fact, you put a unique plan into action. You find 5 to 7 leading long-tail keywords for your niche and focus one page of your website to each long-tail keyword. You put it in the title, description, and throughout your entire website in a variety of styles. You have now successfully created your first 5 to 7 pages of focused content to build your Internet Marketing success from.

In conclusion let’s review what you have done.

1. You avoided an ego trip preferring instead to focus on the best long-tail keyword opportunity available.
2. You created titles and descriptions related to the best long-tail keywords of your given niche.
3. You gave each page a unique focus by using different keyword combinations for each web page.

Consequently you are well on your way to successful Internet Marketing. Though your journey may indeed just have begun the course you are on will lead to optimal success.
